Cisco Learning Credits
What are Cisco Learning Credits?
The Cisco Learning Credit (CLC) Program is an avenue for purchasing authorized Cisco training. Customers who purchase hardware, software or other services from Cisco or Cisco Solution Distributors may have access to Cisco Learning credits. The Learning Credits can also be purchased as a stand-alone item. Many organizations that have an education plan in place for the new technologies they are purchasing will bundle in Cisco Learning Credits to ensure that this training is not cut if other budgets are.
What is the Value of Using Your Credits?
You can maximize the investment in your hardware and software purchases by maintaining the competency of your staff. New Horizons of Minnesota can assess your team’s skills and help develop a training plan that will allow you to best utilize your company’s credits and get your team up to speed on the new technologies. Each Cisco Learning Credit is worth $100 USD worth of Cisco training and may be redeemed up to one full year from the date of activation. Activation typically occurs within five days of purchase and will be available for redemption through Cisco’s web-based Learning Credits Management Tool (LCMT).
What can Cisco Learning Credits be redeemed for?
CLCs can be used for instructor-led learning, e-learning and custom courses, including all training leading up to the exam for Cisco Certifications. They can also be used as payment for Cisco Live Virtual online tutorials, Cisco Live Event and Power Sessions and events hosted by Cisco Advanced Services Training. CLCs can be used for cancelation charges for cancelation and reschedules within our 10 Business Day Policy. CLCs cannot be used for the purchase of Exam Vouchers or payments to testing centers.
How do I redeem Cisco Learning Credits for Training?
Upon selecting a training path or class, New Horizons will determine which classes are eligible for use of the credits. If a class is $3,295.00 you will need 33 credits as each credit is worth $100 USD. As a general rule, always round up to the next credit. Have your Cisco Benefits Administrator / Team Captain issue a Sales Order for the number of needed credits. New Horizons will need that Sales Order number to process your enrollment and use the credits as payment.
Why use credits instead of cash?
- Rollouts: Learning Credits allow customers to purchase training on the same Sales Order as equipment, and other services included in the project. This can be convenient for budgeting purposes, since the training needed to prepare IT employees for a rollout or upgrade can be included as part of the overall project budget rather than separate line items on a different training budget, for example.
- Year-end Purchases: In many organizations, particularly federal organizations, money that goes unused from one fiscal year to the next is not reallocated in the next fiscal year budget. In other words, if the budget is not used, it is lost. Learning Credit purchases can be a convenient way for clients to spend unused budget funds during the fiscal year for training that will occur in the future as a way to guard against having the budget reduced in the coming years.
- Protecting IT Training Funds: Training budgets for many organizations often include technical, applications, and business skill training in one budget. Learning Credits can help IT departments ensure that part of the organization’s training budget is used specifically for Cisco-related training rather than be allocated to another type of training or taken away if financial issues result in a reduced training budget mid-year.
